Why Should I Stage My Home?

The ultimate goal of Staging is to place the home in its best showcase condition to allow it to sell for the best possible price in the shortest possible time.

Many people believe that the buyers viewing their home will be able to see its potential without changing a thing. I don’t know how many times I have heard “Why paint, the new people will just come in and change it?” A buyer only knows what they see, not the way it is going to be. Unfortunately, most buyers have trouble imagining how they will live in the house when they are concentrating on how you live in it. Staging was created to provide the buyer with a neutral backdrop for their imagination.

Your home is probably the largest asset you have. You want to get as much equity out of your home as possible. Selling it quickly and for the highest possible price will be high on your wish list. Buyers need to feel that your home offers something special or extra for their money. Staging shows buyers why your house is worth the price.

When you put your home on the market it becomes a commodity. You are selling square footage, not your personal taste. Help your buyer see the architectural features of your house by depersonalizing.

A home with no deferred maintenance, fresh paint, clean and clutter free tells a buyer your home has no hidden issues to face when they move in. Yes, they will repaint to their taste eventually, but your buyer needs to feel they can move in and live comfortably until they are ready to make it their own.

Remember the adage: “You never get a second chance to create a great first impression.” Prepare your house for sale. Showcase the positives. Be the house that “Shows like a dream”.
